One company, two ways to make stories matter
Puffling’s iOS app recommends personalized activities for children ages 0–6 based on a family’s time, energy, interests, and available materials.
Our first physical product narrows that experience around shared reading: a story-box concept for ages 3–5 with 2–3 carefully selected children’s books, materials that extend their themes into hands-on play, and app ideas adapted for the caregiver and child. The books, age range, contents, and other final details may change as we test it with families.
Meet Laura
Hi, I’m Laura Cavanagh, Puffling’s co-founder and CEO, a mother of two, and a former product marketer in technology. The idea for Puffling grew out of personal necessity.
Like many parents, I found myself caught between wanting to be present with my kids and the overwhelming demands of modern life. I knew play was important for their development, but coming up with fresh, age-appropriate ideas on the spot? That was exhausting.
Puffling became the tool I wished I had: a companion that recommends customized activities, stories, and songs based on your child’s age, interests, and needs. Our first box applies that same idea to reading by helping a family carry a good book into conversation, making, pretending, and play.
Meet Andrew
Co-founder & CTO
Andrew Cavanagh leads Puffling’s engineering and technical strategy. He has spent more than a decade building consumer products and machine-learning systems, including recommendation and product-foundation teams at Meta.
At Puffling, Andrew applies that experience to a much more personal problem: helping families get a useful idea at the moment they need it, without asking them to sort through more noise.
Our Mission
To help children build a lasting relationship with books by making shared reading joyful, personal, and easier to return to.
Story-led, family-tested, and informed by early-education expertise
Puffling’s founding team brings together product, engineering, firsthand parenting experience, and doctoral-level early-education expertise. That range of perspectives shapes the questions we ask about book selection, shared reading, story-inspired play, and what is realistic for families.
